Pet Loss Counsellors

Pets are for many of us, important members of our families, so when they are no longer with us, the loss is deeply felt.

Understanding and working through this grief helps and supports the healing process.  At Patch & Purr, we refer our pet families to our trusted Pet Loss Counsellors. Our entrusted counsellors are qualified grief and loss experts with years of experience helping people work through the loss of their beloved pet.

If you have recently lost your pet and need support, our Pet Loss & Grief Brochure may also offer some comfort.

Fiona Koenig, Prof. Counsellor, M.A.C.A.

Fiona begun her professional career in a very different industry, working with animals in a Veterinary Clinic. She found that when an emergency occurred or during the end of life process she was drawn to providing support to the families. This led her to realising that this was were her interests lie, providing a space for families to grieve the loss of their beloved Pet. With sadness, she left the job at the clinic to study Psychology and Counselling. For the last 5 years she has been counselling with a wide range of clients within a crisis center. The unexpected loss of her 3 year old cat Artemis reaffirmed her belief of how important it is to recognize how deeply we grieve the loss of our pets. She is a nationally qualified counsellor who is passionate about working with families experiencing the loss of their beloved family member.

"Our pets are there for us no matter what happens and the grief we feel when they pass is real. As pet owners we are left with a huge gap that can be impossible to fill."

Fiona believes that when we find meaning from our loses we begin to heal and move ahead with our life without our pet, always remembering the mark they have left on our lives.
